To date, Monica Riley is the only City Council Candidate that has ever been endorsed by HAR. Recently, she held a meeting with Realtors to report the status of campaign platform items and the work she's done since being in office. Riley addressed business development, economic growth, school connections, visibility in the community, and tax changes in favor of Missouri City residents. Riley encouraged business people to have their meetings at the new District A resturants saying, "If they don't survive, we don't thrive."
District A is home to City Hall, a library, two community centers, TX Brewery, Bubble Tea Distributors, and Unity Bank. It spans portions of Fort Bend and Harris Counties, and touches the cities of Misosuri City, Houston, and Stafford.
Riley reported that Missouri City just passed its homestead exemption of 2.5%, raising the tax empemtion from $15K to $20K for most residents, and $20K to $25K for senior citizens.
